CDG: a few steps forward

Hi all,

I know there were sort of a scheduled round robin algo to write on this blog monthly, but in the last month I exchanged a few mails both with Tom and John, and John suggested to report on the blog some content of those emails, so here’s my cut&paste contribution to the blog.

First of all we defined the work team. To describe people and roles in short: Enrico Bazzurro is the project leader, me and Giuliano Zanoni are in charge of the technical aspects, Alessandra Risso is in charge of the dissemination and communication. We planned to involve other people for specifical issues. Of them I’ll let you know in the future.
The structure inside the CDG is the “Digital City” department whose “CEO” is Enrico Bazzurro working with Francesco Bollorino.

As for short term strategy:
“From the Brighton meeting up to now, it’s been decided that there will be people that will work with the video system and many ideas of specific issues have been taken under consideration for forums and so on. But since everything takes time because the structure is new and mostly because every topic passes through a lot of decisions of many people, in the short term (before the end of January) we won’t be able to give extraordinary results.
Actually, since the container will be ready only by mid January, (BTW I understand this is hard work for PI) even the work of filling the widgets will take too much time if we think about too pretentious goals such as maps and so on.
So, I’ll tell you what I could get. For the end of January we think to immediately fill our local page with static data regarding a citizen survey the CDG submitted to the citizens regarding the installation and use of an Aeolian system in Genova. Apart from the data we will have some documents and perhaps some video. I’m not sure about the video for copyright reasons.
Meanwhile I think we will be also able to indicate on the calendar some dates regarding the other issues that would be decided.”

As for the work we intend to do with PI regarding WP1.2 (design & develop CS system):

Investigation on ways to integrate sources from systems already used by CDG into the CitizenScape system. Focus on: export of forum, geographical (maps) and articles data from the Urban Lab (http://www.genovaurbanlab.it/spip.php?rubrique110) and Urban Center (http://urbancenter.comune.genova.it/) spip CMS systems and from the MySpace CDG site (http://www.myspace.com/genova)

As for the new issues to copy with:
use the CitizenScape capabilities for future use with regard to at least one of these items: “la Gronda” (to define a shared project with citizen about the realization of a new motorway junction on the west side of the city), “Progetto Boccadasse” (new housing scheme for the Boccadasse zone), Progetto area ex Verrina (Urban renovation and environmental improvement measures for the Verrina zone), Progetto ex Acciaierie di Cornigliano (Urban renovation and environmental improvement measures for the Cornigliano zone)

As for dissemination I collected from Alessandra Risso that a few things were done in the past (I didn’t report them when we met in Brighton because I didn’t know them yet)

You will find more information on the delivery we all have been working at: “CitizenScape D3.2.2 HMR2 Jul-Dec 08 Partner Inputs.doc”

I think that’s quite all for now.

PS. Hope all of you had good holidays
